Halloween Scary and Gross Snack Mix is the most fun snack full of eyeballs, fingernails, scabs, spiderwebs, boogers, teeth and more! Gross and fun!
Holiday celebrations include decorations, games, music and of course food and the more fun the food is, the better! For Halloween, the more gross and scary the food is, the better! This Halloween Scary and Gross Snack Mix is definitely gross and fun!
With pretzels, chocolate chips, marshmallows, bugles, candy corn, Chex and peanuts (optional if you have a nut allergy; try sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds instead), it has both the sweet and salty flavors too.
One of the best things about this recipe is that the kids can totally make it by themselves! It requires no cooking. The little bit of pouring (and it is non messing pouring!), measuring and mixing is all child friendly!
This is a super-fast and easy recipe to have ready last minute if needed. It doesn’t even need chilling like some recipes do. You can’t get any easier than this!

The Nuts
I used cashews but if you like a different kind, go for it! This is your trail mix so use what you like or have on hand. Some in my family would have preferred more nuts in the mix so feel free to add more if you like too.
If you have a nut allergy, you can also omit the nuts if needed. They are great in there but not totally necessary. Pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds would also be a good addition if you want a healthy crunch added without nuts.
What are all of the Parts of the Snack Mix?
This isn’t just a regular old snack mix made with food! Kids will love eating the gross things that are in this mix! Tell them that:
Candy Corns are giant’s teeth
Snaps pretzels are spiderwebs
Bugles are witch’s fingernails
Nuts or seeds are monster boogers
Chocolate chips are goblin turds
Mini Marshmallows are ghost burps
Wheat Chex are zombie scabs
Eyeballs are eyeballs of course
–Or make up your own gross and scary items! Let me know in the comments if you come up with better ideas! I would love to hear them! Happy snacking! 😊
