A simple tried and true way How to Have an Easter Egg Hunt for Multiple Ages; all can hunt together and all will have fun!
When our three boys were young, they also had several cousins and ages were spread out about ten years. That may not seem too wide but ages 3 to 13 is quite a difference when hunting eggs. We wondered How to Have an Easter Egg Hunt for Multiple Ages.
My husband’s parents—it could have actually been his grandmothers—had a great idea.
Each child was assigned a color of egg. Our youngest had green because that was his favorite color. Be sure to take that into account! He was also the 3-year-old so that was definitely something to consider.
(We always colored hard-boiled eggs but when hunting eggs, it was the plastic ones filled with goodies and the real eggs were left safely in the refrigerator.)
With 6 kids, it worked very well for many years to give them each one assigned color of egg. When filling the eggs, they could be filled equally or even special things added to their color egg that we knew were their favorite candy.
When hiding the eggs, you will of course hide the eggs according to each child they are for. We hid our green eggs for our youngest in the easiest spots and the older kids knew they were his so passed by them. The other colors were hidden in varying degrees of difficulty for each child.
If you have more children than colors of eggs, make them two toned eggs; half yellow and half blue, half green and half pink, etc.
Bonus Idea:
Another way that could work would be to release the kids at different times. We have done this too.
Release the youngest. Wait a few minutes (how long depends on the progress made by the little ones in the yard-keep an eye on things) to release the next age(s) and so on.
This can also work well if you have patient older kids. 😊
