You will love this recipe for Simple Homemade Turkey Chicken Gravy! It is almost as easy as opening a jar!

Are you wondering how easy it is to make your own gravy? Or if it takes too long?

It takes only 3 ingredients to make homemade gravy and one of them is water! The others are a little white flour and the broth from cooking the turkey or chicken.

If you have cooked the bird, you are almost there! (If you want to know how to cook a turkey, I have a Step by Step How to Cook a Turkey post that would be the same process for a chicken and it is really quite easy. You can do it! It even has tips about how to do it ahead of time so you will be all cleaned up before the holiday; you sure can’t beat that!)

And it takes only about 10 minutes on the stove. It takes half that to warm up a jar of gravy, right? Those extra minutes for homemade gravy are WELL worth it, guaranteed.

So, let’s do this!

This recipe has been shared in Meal Plan Monday and Weekend Potluck. Head on over to these great sites for LOTS of new recipes each week!

Can it Be Made Ahead of Time?

Yes, it can be made a day or two ahead of time and reheated in the microwave or on the stovetop for the main event.

I sometimes make the gravy ahead for my big meals and other times do it as the turkey is heating in the oven.

Even when my turkey is cooked ahead, it still takes it 30 minutes to reheat in the oven so I have plenty of time to make the gravy fresh.

If you would like to know my tips on how to make your turkey ahead of time, see Step by Step How to Cook a Turkey. I do mine that way every time.

Can This Be Frozen?

Yes, it can be frozen BUT the consistency will change some. When it thaws, it will be a bit watery and separated. It will taste fine, however, so it can be frozen and just stirred well before using.
