Fall Halloween Bark

Fall Halloween Bark

Fall Halloween Bark is an oh so pretty and easy to make dessert with sweet and salty flavors in cool fall colors; ready in a little over an hour.

Fall Halloween Bark is so quick and easy to make! Bark is one of my favorite desserts to make because it is so easy. You simply melt some chocolate, spread it out, sprinkle on some goodies, let them cool and break them into bite sized pieces. Wa-la; bark! And the kids can do much of the process! They love to be involved in the making.

The M&M’s

I haven’t found where you can buy just brown, orange and yellows so just buy a big bag and pick out what I want. It will work out fine because in just a few weeks, I will want greens and reds for Christmas bark. 😊

The Sprinkles:

I couldn’t find fall sprinkles like I wanted either. I was shopping too early, I guess. Instead, I bought the brown ones and then bought colorful party round ones and picked out the reds, oranges and yellows and mixed them with the brown ones and then I had fall sprinkles!

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I just did it while I was talking on the phone and it wasn’t a bad job. It is certainly one the kids could do too but hopefully you can just find fall sprinkles!

The Bark:

When melting the bark, don’t go by looking at it whether it is melted or not. It will usually keep its block shape until you start stirring so it can be deceiving. It may be very hot and pretty much melted but still look like blocks.

Stir after 60 seconds and then after 30 seconds and then after 15 seconds and then just stir and stir and it will probably be enough. You don’t want it too hot. If you put colorful M&M’s on chocolate that is too hot, your colors will run.

Also, when sprinkling your other ingredients onto the bark, it is good to do the bigger things first and smaller things like sprinkles last so they will fill in the gaps.

Gently press the pieces down into the bark so they are in it well. If they are not, they will fall out and you will have more like a trail mix; still good but not what we are going for here.

Can Fall Halloween Bark be made ahead?

Yes! Bark is the perfect make ahead dessert! It will wait patiently in the refrigerator or even freezer. Just store it in an air tight container and keep refrigerated up to a week or frozen up to 3 months for best taste. It will last longer but may not taste its best if left longer.
